What do you look for in a video game in order for you to play it? List at least one game which stands out for you and explain why it is superior to the others you have played:
I love competitive PVP. I don't just play video games - I study them. I like to learn every little in and out of the current meta. The game I have played the longest was DotA. I tried for many years to join up with pro teams, but unfortunately I never made it past the semi-pro scene. I played DotA for about 12 years or so. When Darkfall came out, I started playing on the first day of the European server. I loved Darkfall, but honestly, I couldn't play the game as often as everyone else did. There was a lot going on in my life, and Darkfall requires so much of your time in order to stay competitive.
Describe the greatest gaming moment in your life and why it stands out among others (Regarding multi player PC games):
One of my favorite moments has to be when I competed at an amature tournament for DotA. I was playing solo bottom with Mirana against a tri-lane, and I got a double kill within the first few minutes of the match. The tournament announcer started laughing his ass off and kept switching the camera view to show what I was doing in the match. Every time I landed an arrow he would yell, "Oh my god! Another 5-second stun!?" I got so fired up that game, and we snowballed out of control. Unfortunately, we only ended up taking 2nd place in that tournament, but that was because Chu, a pro Canadian player, flew down with his team just to sweep the competition and take the cash prize.
Explain briefly your least favorite kind of person to play with (characteristics, personality):
Hmm. That's a bit of a loaded question. I had a huge disagreement with the captain of a DotA team I used to play for... Basically, he was not even remotely as skilled as the rest of the team. When we won, he would praise how well he did in the match. When we lost, he would point fingers and complain about how poorly we did and how he couldn't carry the whole team. Ultimately, he needed to improve his own ability and admit when he made mistakes.
How do you typically handle working with people like the one mentioned above?:
Oh, I tolerated his behavior for a long time. I've worked as a therapist in real life for several years, and one method I tried was displaying the preferred behavior in hopes that he would adapt himself to it. He was a stubborn dude. In the end, the rest of the team ganged up on him, and we quickly dissolved and went out separate ways.
Describe an experience where you had to act as a leader (either planned or improvised):
I've never led a large group of people, but when I was a therapist, I was constantly leading people on an individual basis. I'm a patient person and a natural-born mentor. In video games, I like to help unexperienced players learn the essentials and quickly improve their playstyle.
What sort of things define a good leader to you?:
As much as I enjoy befriending those entrusted to lead me, I understand that it is important to maintain heirarchy. The best leader I have ever had was, for lack of a better term, a complete dick. But he knew what needed to be done and how to do it. True leadership is knowing that the needs of an individual don't outweigh the needs of the group.
Darkfall related (!)
What sort of role will you prefer in Darkfall?:
Well, I think most people these days play a more hybrid role. I definitely prefer whacking people in the face with my greatsword, but spamming people with spells is pretty fun too.
How much time will you be able to playUnholy Wars Darkfall each day:
There's no real way of knowing just yet... I'm currently in school, but the semester ends soon. I'm going to be working a lot this summer in preparation for my son's birth. I'm going to try to play as much as I possibly can.
Did you play the original Darkfall? If so, for how long?:
Yes. I've played on and off since the beginning. Cumulatively, probably only a year or two?
If you answered 'YES' above, use this section to talk about what you liked/disliked about Darkfall and any interesting experiences you had in it:
Oh man. I loved Darkfall. It's funny how much I cared about gear in the beginning compared to how rich I was at the end. I guess the thing I disliked the most was the people? But they're a necessary evil. I like that there are people in the world who are my mortal enemies on an online game; however, if I met them in real life, we'd probably laugh about it over a beer.
What is going to be your main gaming motivation while playing Darkfall?:
I'm hoping to be a part of something bigger than myself. Playing Darkfall is like writing history. Also, I love the adrenaline that comes from PVP.
Clan related (!)
Why did you apply to Covert Operations?:
Well, my sister is in CO: Whisper. I've always respected Covert Operations since the beginning of Darkfall. Great clan with honorable players.
How will you be an asset to Covert Operations?:
I'm a nice guy. I'm not a noob. I'm not stupid. I'll farm steedgrass for you.
Do you have any friends in the clan? If so, list who they are and give a brief history with them:
Whisper is my sister... not my friend.
Previous clan(s) & the reason why you left:
Oh man... I started in CotP on EU. I don't even remember the names of all the small clans I was in after that. I know I joined a few large alliances. Most of those just dissolved from sieges gone wrong. At the end of Darkfall, I was one of the SG's for a noob-friendly clan that owned Hammerdale. I can't even remember what our tag was...
How involved were you in your previous clans? (Leadership positions, politics, etc):
Typically, I wasn't too involved. It's difficult to establish yourself when you don't have time to play. Sieges though - I always made time for sieges.
